TechSmith has started the unusual promotion by giving away the previous versions of its software for free.

SnagIt - how to download and get the license key is described here. The free version is 7.2.5, and the current (not free) one is 8.2. This software allows you to capture screenshots of any objects on the screen. It’s really helpful while making help and manuals - we used to use pretty old version 5.

Camtasia Studio - download and registration instructions are here. The free version is 3, and the current not free version is 5. This software lets you make screencasting - for example, for video demo of your product.

It would be really interesting to know how this promotion will affect sales of TechSmith.
